President, Georgia Independent School Association
In 2006, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, an independent school in metropolitan Atlanta, chose Lighthouse Counsel — based on its tailored, energetic approach, its depth of support and scope of expertise — to lead its strategic-planning process following the completion of its campus expansion.
Lighthouse developed a dynamic plan that included a new mission statement, sessions with staff to outline tasks and details, staff coaching for implementation, a communications plan, and a brochure for marketing and cultivation.
“Lighthouse Counsel is big enough to have all the resources we needed, yet they still treated us with individualized service. They enabled us to develop a workable plan with great creativity and objectivity. The results were far better than what we might have achieved without them.”
Strategic Planning Co-Chair
Assistant Vice President (retired), AT&T
Mount Vernon then commissioned Lighthouse to prepare an advancement plan, and it also provided support, recruited development staff and worked with the annual fund director during a period when the school was without an advancement director.
Lighthouse produced the annual fund materials and the head of school’s newsletter; and conducted exit interviews and parent, faculty and student satisfaction surveys. Through its partnership with Lighthouse, Mount Vernon’s annual fund increased by 50 percent in one year.
