About our Guest

Prior to joining Shady Hill as head of school in July 2010, Mark Stanek was head of school at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York and middle school principal at Milton Academy in Massachusetts. He also is the author of the 2nd edition of “The Middle School Handbook” for the National Association of Independent Schools. 

Mark has served on numerous education-related boards, including as past president of the Association of Independent Schools of New England.

He holds a B.A. in mathematics from Hamilton College and an M.A. in private school leadership and education administration from Teachers College, Columbia University and is a recipient of the Klingenstein Scholarship & Rose Scholarship.
