US Poultry is a highly regarded organization serving the “all-feather” industry. Over the years, it has established and supported a foundation with contributions from the association itself. But due to the recession and a subsequent drop in association income, the foundation realized the need to be more proactive in securing funds to endow itself for its future. In short, it needed to fundraise.
US POULTRY chose to partner with Lighthouse Counsel after an intense national search. Working closely with Lighthouse Counsel, a case for support was developed and a campaign feasibility and planning study was conducted. What was discovered was that while there was support for the foundation’s programs, there was a need for deeper engagement and understanding of the association’s work among key industry leaders. After the feasibility study, Lighthouse Counsel recommended a one-year cultivation program to prepare for the eventual endowment campaign.
This investment in time and resources paid rich dividends, as the foundation recruited a stellar campaign steering committee of 25 members. Along with incredible staff leadership, the foundation embarked on a journey that raised almost $11 million, doubling its original $5 million goal.
